It's honestly annoying af how unkind so many of the officers are.
I don't understand the volatility and unkind temperament. Even if you have a problem with someone's visa/passport/etc, why can't you just be professional?
Just to get some clarity— what, specifically was the strictness you describe in the: "strict enforcement of the „residency“-section"? Are you referring to the questions you were asked about work, address, etc. (and your cartography skills)?
“fair” salary isn’t a linear solution. Public perception of value has to change. If prices go up, people stop buying, unless what they are selling is perceived as more valuable. For example: so many of my Thai friends on Facebook post about how expensive restaurants are becoming — almost always followed by “I’m going to the cheaper places.” Artificially increasing prices and “salaries” doesn’t fix anything.
just applied today in Jakarta — will make a post soon.
I think I was actually remembering someone saying “if you make a mistake, they let you leave and go fix your mistake before paying” so payment is the last bit and isn’t the cost of entry.
