Question here for the DTV holders currently residing in Thailand longer than 180 days per year therefore becoming liable for Thai income tax returns. Does anyone here have any experience dealing with a local agent that understands the situation and double tax treaties? I’m a full time online freelancer earning %100 of my income from Australian clients and pay Australian income taxes and GST. Any experience from others or recommendations for a local agent would be appreciated as we are intending to stay for 1 full year leaving the country only a few times between those 180 day periods for some other travel. From what I understand you’re only taxed on what is remitted into Thailand however it seems largely a grey area.

Is this still the case:

As a US citizen, do retirees pay taxes in Thailand?

Income earned inside Thailand during retirement is the only income subject to tax, while personal income from pension, interest, or other income sources in your home country is not subject to income tax in Thailand. This creates a 100% tax-free retirement in Thailand.

Please let me know if anyone in the group is using TransferWise, or now just Wise, to transfer their money. I am planning to do, but would be good to have some feedbacks or if anyone using it especially from the security perspective. My current plan is to transfer from Switzerland to Thailand. Thanks.

I am converting to a marriage visa extension when I return to Thailand this month. I need to send the 400K baht to Thailand for my bank account which is not yet open. The rates are very favorable right now. Can I send the money to my wife's acct and then transfer it to mine when I open it or does it have to come straight from my account in the US?
