What is the process and experience for extending a 30-day tourist visa in Krabi with a support letter from the UK embassy?

Hi everyone,

Anyone else gone into Krabi immigration for a 30-day extension using an embassy support letter? What was your experience?

I have a British passport; came into Thailand (March) on a 30 day tourist visa (on arrival) and have been on amnesty ever since.

I obtained a support letter from the UK embassy and went to Krabi immigration on Friday and received an "under consideration" stamp until 11th October.

The officer explained it as "I've given you 15 days...come back on the 11th Oct and apply for the other 15". I paid 1900 baht but foolishly forgot to get a receipt (wasn't given one). I'm not sure if I will have to pay again when I go back for the other 15.

Has anyone had a similar experience?
