today i want to share my current extension process for the DTV Visa in Krabi.
First of all the attached pictures show the new official Immigration Bureau Order No. 4/2025 dated 13 January 2025 which is specifically for the DTV extension. (They only let me take a picture of the workcation page after a short discussion)… This is the document they use as a guideline. It seems to be an updated version of the old Order from July 2024 which has been shared here multiple times. The translation isnt official / just a ChatGPT result, so dont take it for granted!
My Process:
I went there 2 times now because they requested additional documents, specifically about the „Evidence of Residence“. So thats probably my own fault for not having them but i also didnt know. I will list the document requirements below. I go again tomorrow or friday to finish the process and will post the final update. (Krabi Immigration: come 08:20, open 08:30, be the first one and done quickly)
Documents needed:
- Passport
- Passport copy (biodata + stamp)
- Passport photo (dont accept digital)
- eVisa copy
- bank statement (30+ days) showing 500k (guideline says having it for 30+ days in the same account)
- certificate of employment (workcation / letter from HR) (recently dated!)
- TM30 (online seems okay in Krabi, no print. different in other provinces!)
- Rental contract (make sure its signed by the house owner in the house book!)
- House book of the rental house (copy)
- House book of the landlords house (copy)
- ID card copy of the landlord (make sure names match with house books and contract!)
- Pictures of me in front of the house and inside the house. (they want to see the full house from the outside not just the entrance. house number should be visible)
- 1900 Baht
So all of this residence stuff seems very overcomplicated and made me go there 3 times now. Picture wasnt sufficient (only had entrance and house number and me visible; want to see the whole house area). House owner Id i didnt have. Rental contract was from the son and not the mother who is in the house book. Photocopies + Passport Photo now needed in physical form. Previously was okay digitaly in Krabi. They clearly dont want to do the extension and try to make it as hard as possible 😀 but they will do when you present all of these documents. Maybe easier when you have a hotel and get those
documents from them. (i live in a rental house)… its similar to the other longstay visa extensions.
I hope this helps others that want to extend their DTV inside Thailand. If you know what they want to see, then you can fairly quickly get everything done. And btw: besides the residency stuff this is the required documents they already told me 3 months ago. For all the non-believers :D
Speculation: Since the letter from the company has to be new: i would strongly guess that for soft power you will show an activity thats ongoing or happening in the next 180 days!
Just in Ao nang friend goes to extend 30 days and get to krabi immigration 12.45 15 early before they open sat down lady comes out 12.50 asks what he is there for he tells her she checks his papers open the desck up and does everything and he back on the bike at 1pm all done and dusted and passport in pocket with another 30 day stamp
Hi, I obtained a DTV from the Thai embassy in London.
I printed a copy to travel with but we had a super rushed transit through BKK to our onward flight for Krabi and I completely forgot to show the paperwork, I mistakenly believed it would be on their system as soon as my passport was scanned.
Subsequently my very travel weary brain decided it would be a good idea to check my passport and my stamp was just the 60 day one.
Has anyone had a similar experience and could offer advice on the best course of action? Many thanks
I’ve checked the group before penning this message but to no avail; in a slight pickle. Thanks in advance for any help or insight.
I had applied (successfully) and obtained an e-visa, running to 20th March 2025. I showed this to immigration at Krabi on arrival and all was well/approved. However, my friend whom has just arrived (with the same longevity of successful visa), warned me to check the stamp listed in my passport, that was added by immigration, as he’d heard a couple of horror stories and it seems his stamp is only valid for 60 days.
Now checking, the stamp in my passport, reflects that it’s “valid until” the 2nd December, I.e only 60 days.
With this context, the question is, as presumably immigration will go by the stamp over any e-visa or QR code I share, how can I remedy this? Is it as simple as an immigration office or returning back to the airport for them to “override” or re-stamp my passport with the correct, deferred date?
Sorry if this had been posted before. Feeling a bit anxious. Any help is hugely hugely appreciated 🙏🙏
My 5 years "elite" visa runs out in six months. Due to covid, I was offered a free six months extension. But they cannot process that in Krabi. According to Thai Elite I will have to fly to BKK to get that extension. Seems like a bit of pain for only 6 months extension. I purchased my current visa when I was 48. Now I am 53 and I can apply for a retirement visa instead. Canadian. Thai bank account balance not an issue. My wife has the same visa. The plan is to have her tag onto my retirement visa.
Only two questions, please. 1- Will wee need to leave the country and come back? 2- Any advice on how to get this done smoothly?
I have a retirement visa. I currently live in Samui and have already done 1 90 day check in. I went to the states and returned May 14 so my next 90 day will be August 14 but I will be living in Krabi that month. Can I do check in at Krabi immigration? TIA
Arrived on a visa exemption. We will be going to Krabi immigration to request an additional 30 days. (We will have booked our new departure date) Can someone explain the process so I can know what to expect when we go? Thanks!
Hello i have some questions about the visa run and visa extension and i hope you can help☺️
I live in Thailand and im from denmark. 2 months ago i went to Malaysia and got extended for 1 month, then 1 month ago i went to krabi to extend again for 1 month. Now i have to extend again before the 4 th. So do you guys know if i can extend again in krabi? Or do i have to leave the Country?
I read somewhere online that you can extend again and get 7 days, but im not sure about the rules.
Just for info. We arrived in Thailand on a 60 day tourist visa (UK). This is due to run out early January. We thought about a border hop, but as we'll be on the islands not so easy or cheap.
Anyway, went to krabi immigration today and they extended 30 days from the January expiry date. Cost 1900tbh each, need a copy of passport and photo but that can be done there, I'm not sure if it was 20tbh for copy or 100tbh for both ( we had ours already)
Easy system, today was a busy day after weekend and holiday sl took us 3 hours but usually 30 minutes wait. Be aware its cash only too.
