TLDR : Answer Summary
The pink ID card issued to foreigners in Thailand typically has a validity period of 10 years for those under 60 years of age. However, foreigners aged 60 and above receive a card that is valid for life. This consensus among expats indicates that the age of the applicant plays a significant role in determining the card's duration. Additionally, the pink ID card does not offer significant advantages and is often regarded as less useful compared to a Thai citizen's ID card.

According to Thai law, this identity card is valid for 10 years, but if that exceeds your 70th birthday, then it is for life.
--> Meaning that from the moment you are 60 and apply for a new one, it will be for life.
Different wording but same result. But the first wording is the correct legal wording. As strange as it may seem, there is logic in it. As it is universally applied regardless the years of validity of the type of identity card : any identity card which exceeds your 70th birthday must never be renewed.

From another post that I just read mentioning this, if you're under 60 years old, it's valid for 10 years. If you're 60 or older when applying, it's valid for life.

Oh I am so sincerely sorry Mr Nielsen, I must have read Mr Somermeier's wording way too fast.
What I meant was what are the advantages of having a pink id card?

If you are foreigner with a pink card and married to a Thai are your children automatically citizenship of Thailand or not? According to regulations:
Furthermore, if your spouse transitions, dies, are you required to sell the property immediately or etc? I believe the property including land must be registered by a Thai citizen only.
It might have something to do with your age. Iβm 75 and my card is good for the rest of my life. They might be thinking that I wonβt be around in another 10 years.
