Hello teachers! 

I got my police check back today. Is there a limit on how long I have before it’s invalid? I have another 60 days (90 with extension) before my current visa expires, so would like to book as far ahead as possible to minimise the cost of the trip.

And you should think, finally documents ready, let's go as quick as possible to get the Non Immigrant B visa and after return pick up the Work permit and start work.

But NO, 90 days of holiday left before he starts thinking of it, I only hope your new to be employer has the same feeling.

Just yesterday I read it's good for 90 days. I don't remember the exact context but it was for a visa.

Edit in response to the post below... perhaps I’m finishing the academic year at one school before starting at the next one, and time isn’t so important given the upcoming school holidays?! Think about the academic year before judging.

Generally they are valid for 3-6 months depending on the companies requirements.

I'm not sure how long the police report is valid, but I know some consulates don't ask for it.

If you're working right now without the proper work permit, OR a work permit, STOP. They are cracking down on illegal employees. Plus, 90 days from now will put you in the middle of April, and I doubt you'd get a work permit then.

Richard Swire OK I only want an answer to my question. I’ve worked here legally for many years. You only need a local police check after a set amount of time. I have all my papers sorted and only need an answer to my actual question, thanks so much.

Richard Swire Hey Richard! For what it's worth, the OP's been in the country for a couple of years per her Facebook page, so that's why I brought up that suggestion. But, some schools are, um... "very relaxed" about police reports, shall we say...

Hanoi actually says this in regard of a Non b for teaching. It's not a Thai police clearance they may or may not ask for

'

- Police certificate verifying that applicant has no criminal record or equivalents or letter issued by authorised agencies in applicant’s country. (The requirement of the submission of such police certificate is optional. The applicant must submit it if consular officer requests he/she to do so. This requirement is effective as from May 2007)

90 days from what I've been told before. However, the Thai central police department issues them quickly (3 day turnaround, if my memory serves me right) the last I checked

they’ve not replied yet. The police check needs renewing every time you change jobs, just like the visa. I’m going to Hanoi because that’s where my papers are written for.

the police check is now a requirement for most embassies including the one I’m going to, as it should be when people work with children. Does anyone have a constructive answer?
