TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is on a 60-day tourist visa in Thailand, set to expire on February 23rd, and is inquiring about the consequences of leaving the country one day late on February 24th. Comments indicate that overstaying by one day typically incurs a 500 baht fine and an overstay stamp, but it may not pose significant issues for returning to Thailand, though it could affect visa applications for other countries. Several commentators advise against overstaying, suggesting the user either leave on the visa expiry date or seek an extension.

I was one day late the last time I visited Thailand and the immigration officer told me that it was not a problem since it was only one day. I’m just telling you what he told me.
Albert *****
One day ok just paid 500 baht

He’s right. If police have cause to stop you and find out you’ve overstayed, you will be arrested and deported.
Randy ******
@Ralph ******
Deported? Fair enough. But not thrown in Thai Xing Xing
Graham ******
@Randy *****
You will be arrested and put in the Immigration deportation centre until your flight home which you pay for and get blacklisted for at least 5 years

@Randy *****
if you are pulled over by police or asked for your ID and it is expired you will be arrested. Happened last week at a bar in Jomtien when police were doing an ID check.

Wjy not leave on Sunday?
Craig ********
Don't do it

Overstaying is never good, will leave a remark in the Immigration history.

Would rather be law-abing and get a extension.

And count days more accurate next time.

Within 24 hours and leaving via an airport you’ll get an overstay stamp in your passport but they’ll usually waive the 500 baht fine.

The overstay stamp isn’t an issue for returning to Thailand but can cause issues in other countries when applying for a visa for there. They see the overstay stamp for Thailand and may it cause problems.

Any real evidence of an overstay stamp causing a visa refusal in another country?

Many countries are now issuing visas online. They do not even get to see what other stamps are in the passport.

@Richard *******
maybe can get a visa online but when they arrive and immigration check their passport they could be refused entry. Visa does not guarantee entry

@Richard *******
Not real evidence but read posts on here and other forums that they’ve caused issues. I seem to recall Vietnam and Russia were mentioned.

@Stuart ********
Singapore and Malaysia are the 2 I recall

@Richard *******
some countries do ask if you've ever been refused a visa or overstayed
Richard ********
@John *********
yes, but that refers to the country you are applying to.

no it doesn't, it is not specific
