What are the visa requirements after marrying a Thai citizen, particularly concerning my Covid visa expiration?

ORIGINAL POSTER
I am getting married to a Thai man, and the day we would like to legally get married is only 24 days before my Covid visa expires. Iโ€™ve read a lot of mixed things online about whether I need 15 or 30 days remaining. Is there any certain amount of time I need to be married before getting a visa? Or a set amount of time left on my visa?

Current visa situation:

Entered on tourist visa, then Covid visa, then ED visa, and now back to Covid visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on the visa implications of marrying a Thai citizen shortly before their Covid visa expires. They are unsure about the necessary time frame and visa type requirements to apply for an extension based on marriage. Commenters advise that obtaining a Non-O visa based on marriage is complex, especially given the user's previous visa history. They recommend marrying and then directly consulting the immigration office for options, stressing the importance of preparing all required documentation well in advance.

Time to stop this, sorry but I never seen assistants helping to carry the tons of documents transported in 18 wheel trucks to apply for an Extension of Stay or a visa.

I understand 1 mobile phone with an app for pictures should do, but this is Thailand and Immigration want to see some hard copies.

I will open this for the person who sent me the list with at least 100 different requirements needed to apply for any visa or Extension of stay.

Whatever you do, don't think it's just a case of going to the immigration office and job done, there is a ton of paperwork and documents you need to get/provide and it's definitely not something that you can club together the day before you go ๐Ÿ‘

Please, It is less than 20 copies and as far as I know that is way less than a ton of paperworks.

You had some strange experience, but that was your personal opinion. Stop spreading fake news.

I mean the year extension, you need loads of stuff and different docs, photos taken around the house and address boards with you and your wife in the photo, signatures and ID, copy of ban books of the person who owns the house etc. It's not fake news mate, I'm legit going thru the process ATM and we have about 100 pieces of paper as Danielle mentioned

I believe he's referring to the one year extension and not the non-O visa. You don't need many documents for the Non-O but you do for the one year extension. I have to apply for mine every year in Kanchanaburi immigration and I have to submit roughly 100 documents (2x copies of everything), so he's not far off if he's referring to the one year extension on the Non-O visa.

100 copies?

You must be joking.

Please send me the list of 100 requirements by PM.

Sadly for you, you won't be able to get an in country Non-O visa issued based on marriage to a thai. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ That's because before you went to covid extensions you were on a Non-Imm type ED visa and you can't get a Non-Imm visa from another Non-Imm visa. The fact you got covid extensions after the ED visa don't matter at all.

Now you MIGHT, as in may be able to go to the immigration office after you're married to a thai and see if you can apply straight for the year extension based on marriage. (That's because in order to get a year extension based on marriage you needed to hold a non-imm visa <- of ANY type) and you did you had an ED visa.

That will only work IF you were on extensions of stays from the ED visa not if you only took the 90 day Non-ED and then didn't extend it

You need to get married and then go to your immigration office with your thai husband to see what your options are. I believe IF you were on an ED extension before you went to covid extensions you can go straight to a year marriage extension by meeting the requirements
