Should I purchase a re-entry permit for my Non-O visa if I plan to travel to the UK and return on a tourist visa?

I have a non o based on married to a Thai which runs out September 2025. myself and my wife will visit the UK in June 2025 for a 2 week holiday returning at the end of June. Will I save on the re entry permit fee if I DONT purchase a re entry permit when leaving Thailand, return from the UK after holiday on the 60 day free tourist visa. Then just re apply for the non o visa again? Or would it mean I'd spend more based on having to provide proof of a return flight returning on a tourist visa. (Presuming you don't need to show return flight on a non o) 🤔

It just seems pointless paying for a re entry permit and a month later paying for non o extension🤔

not sure what you mean, but you have mentioned you are on non O visa, and later said you are on visa exempt. which is which?

you can only hold 1 visa at any one time, and if you leave the country without applying for reentry, your non-O visa will be cancelled. Simple as that, dont try to be smart and look for loopholes.

If you come back on a visa exempt entry you won't be able to apply for a 12 month extension. You will first have to apply for a 90 day Non-O visa by meeting the requirements for that, and before the 90 days expires then apply for the 12 month extension of stay. You'd be biting off your nose to spite your face

No, you'd end up paying more.

If you don't get the re-entry permit for bt1000, then when you return you would pay bt2000 for your new 90 day visa, then another bt1900 for your one year extension 90 days later. With the re-entry permit you pay bt1000, and eliminate the bt2000 to start over with the 90 day visa extension.

A re-entry permit (single entry) is 1,000 baht. A Non O visa obtained in country is 2,000 baht.
