Hello, NZ passport, hubby is here on ED Visa and myself and our two kids are dependants. 

Question is regarding the extension we will need after three months. The school isn’t sure but suggested we *might* need to get our marriage certificate and childrens birth certificates notorised by our embassy (which is in BKK, we are in CNX). We do have the originals with us. Does anyone have first hand experience please whether we need to go to BKK to get this done or not?

Again, any first hand experience please in CM getting ED visa extensions using original certificates.

You definitely need to pay a visit to the immigration office in Chiang Mai and find out what documentation AND what certifications you need on the documents BEFORE you need to get your extensions.

Take ALL the passports.

There is no one size fits all list of what you need that works. the only sure way is to go there and find out on your own.

You might (as in maybe but not sure) get at least a rough idea of what you need by posting this in a chiang mai related f/b group.

BUT don't take anything you get off the inter-web at face value.

I can't speak for New Zealand, but we had to get our UK marriage certificate legalised and then certified in the UK before we could use it for getting dependent extensions. Hopefully your Embassy can do it here!
