I just have a question about the amnesty that went until the end of September. Were we required to still go to the immigration to get a stamp every month while the amnesty was in affect? I am about to leave Thailand and someone I spoke with over the phone is saying that I will need to pay for overstaying because I did not get a stamp while on amnesty. I thought that it was a free amnesty/ no stamp required. Can someone please verify for me.🙏

Ok so you shouldnt have to pay, then - because you were on amnesty, then after the amnesty ended you were on a visa.

Yes, I was on amnesty from may 4th until Sept 19th with no additional stamps. And then I obtained the student visa from then until now. So I shouldn't have to pay any overstay?

you gotta visit Immigration and find out how to stay after December 19, and don't worry, you haven't been on any overstay since

you need to have a plan for what you will do after December 19. You might be ok to apply for the "unable to fly out" stamp before your existng stamp runs out, which would take you until January 29th

If that's the case

then you're totally fine.

You stopped being on amnesty the date they stamped that Non-ED visa into your passport and gave you a new 90 day stamp.

As long as you got that done BEFORE Oct 31st and leave before the current stamp in your passport runs out you're good and not on overstay at all.

okay the way it worked was; you needed to go to the immigration office by the date amnesty ran out (which was Oct 31) and applied for an "unable to travel due to covid" of stay.

IF you didn't do that you'd be on overstay from Nov 1st at 500baht a day.

Any way you slice it IF you didn't go apply for an extension before Oct 31st, you're on overstay

BUT

the upside is you would only owe 20K baht in overstay fines because the 500 baht a day fine caps out at 40 days (20K baht) and you're past that number of days now :/

the Down side is she just put it on here and everyone know i suggest she goes to immigration tomorrow to sort it out and pay the overstay there as if the police get her she will be going to Jail.

The amnesty was extended until the end of October.

After that, they were issuing 60-day "Unable to travel due to Covid" extensions - but only to people who came to immigration to apply.

If you didn't get one of said extensions then yes, you will have to pay overstay for any days beyond Octobers end.

A stamp was not needed to be acquired during amnesty. However, a person needed to get a stamp after the amnesty expired. What's the last day on your "extension of stay due to unable to travel because of COVID-19" stamp?
