FYI

I am on Koh Pha Ngan with a stamp in my passport „under consideration“ til May, 14th.

I called the Samui Immigration office, if i have to come over to get the final stamp.

They told me, i don’t need to come over, i am covered by the amnesty til 31st of July.

And I close this discussion. At almost all the Immigration Offices people did go back and closed the under consideration period.

It seems that people on the island did what is asked in the stamp: Applicant must contact this office again on ../../..

If you're told a visit in not needed, than a visit is not needed, it you're told you need to visit, you visit. It is that simple and we can discuss on this page as long as you want but you do as told when you contacted the Immigration Office who put the stamp inside your passport.

How this all will end and what the procedures will be when land borders open, is a question for all of us. Be patient or leave by airplane if you are afraid that it might not end in the way you like.

I'm in Koh Pha Ngan too and have the same stamp till May 22. I got it when they came to the island at beginning of April. I called the Samui office and they told me to contact Surat Thani office because they're the ones in charge of it. I called them too and have being told the same: don't need to go because of the amnesty. As far I understand, the thing is discretional though. I do not want to get in trouble the day I will the country. Unfortunately "they told me" is not a paper or a stamp. So I'm going to Surat Thani anyway next Tuesday. I think it's safer.

, nobody knows. It is better to find out official information from the government. If all people from islands (with no immigration office) go to another island or to continent "to close smth" instead of listening to officer, it will be a collapse again.

You just advice the opposite to what immigration officer advice to do. But not too many people read this group cause they were tald they were covered.

If people really need to "close smth" , it is better to do it following the official information that we don't have.

Moreover many people went to another island and were tald that their second stamp is not ready yet.

There are hundreds of people only on Phangan with not colsed "under consideration" stamp, cause immigration officer said they are covered. And I think there are thousands of people with the same stamp in Thailand. I think it is not possible that all these people will have problems. They just don't have so much space in prison.

To those nearby and want peace of mind like me, I closed mine and was in and out in 10 minutes.

They dug through a giant stack of applications, pulled mine out, and gave me the other half. Very easy.

Thanks for the update. Completing the "under consideration" stamp is up to the immigration office; this group believes those "under consideration" stamps should be closed unless otherwise directed by the immigration office.

You'll be fine.

I have a similar situation being on Koh Lanta with the Krabi immigration office (and have been given similar advice). My plan is to still go to immigration to get a closed stamp before trying to leave the country (Even if it is after the expiry) just for piece of mind at the airport. They shouldn’t have a problem doing this if they consider you under the amnesty anyway.
