Can I teach yoga in Thailand on a DTV visa while being hired by a foreign company?

Wonderful people. Could I ask for help in clarifying making money while on the DTV? I teach niche yoga classes. The parent company is in Dubai. Studios worldwide hire them, pay them in foreign currency, who then hire me to travel to teach at that location. In this case Thailand. Would that qualify me as a β€œremote” worker even though I would physically be teaching in Thailand? πŸ€” Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the question of whether a yoga instructor on a DTV visa can teach in Thailand while being hired by a foreign company in Dubai. The consensus among commenters is clear: the DTV visa does not permit working directly with clients in Thailand, regardless of the overseas employment situation. A work permit and an appropriate visa for employment in Thailand are essential. Teaching yoga in person for clients who are in Thailand is considered illegal under the conditions of the DTV visa.

That's the grey area tho, as the clients are in dubai outside of Thailand... They're the ones hiring her. I would say talk to a lawyer because that might be a loophole but of course I don't actually know

that’s what I was thinking since the client is not locally based. Thus asking for help to gain clarity. πŸ€”

Anonymous participant and if anything they are sending at least some of the people into the country from the sounds of it to participate, thus making the country money

People always swore up and down you can't even remote work in the country. So everyone has different perceptions. Definitely don't take anything from this group as fact, including what I think lol 😁

What is your company in Dubai called ?

Exactly the opposite of what the DTV is for. No you would not qualify.

Forget about that. Thai authorities are hunting these kind of activities, can land you in jail. Get another visa, employ 5 Thais, then you're in.

It would not qualify you for the DTV, plus you would be working illegally in Thailand. To work in Thailand you need a work permit and a visa that supports this

Only if you're teaching in front of a screen, without any students physically present. That would be similar to teaching [any subject, such as English] online to students based outside of Thailand.

You ask this anonymously, because you know the answer, already, right? πŸ™„

With the DTV visa (DN path) you are allowed to work for a foreign company and in work fields outside of Thailand. It gives you a permit for remote work only. You are not allowed to work with customers in Thailand.

I’m asking because I’m seeking clarification. That’s what the group is for- right? πŸ™„

Sure, sure, ... πŸ™„

No, you need a work permit and the appropriate visa to work in Thailand.

The DTV rules strictly forbid working inside Thailand or for clients inside Thailand.

Absolutely not ! This is not a working visa to work directly with anyone in thailand and it's very clearly stated you can not work in thailand unless it is remotely for clients outside if thailand
