Was just wondering could I apply for a DTV if I want to start teaching English online to students outside of Thailand? Am about to begin a TEFL course soon and was also wondering how I could show proof of employment if that’s needed? Will be applying through London Embassy

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original question concerns the eligibility for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) while teaching English online to students outside of Thailand. Comments clarify that a DTV might be appropriate if the teaching is directed solely at non-Thai students, as one commenter shares a personal account of a friend successfully teaching online under these conditions, although the friend has not yet applied for the visa. It's important to confirm the specifics regarding proof of employment needed when applying.

A pal does this to Japanese business people and Vietnamese students. Teaches online from Thailand and no Thai students. The companies he works for are Vietnamese and Japanese. He has been told it is fine for a DTV but he has not yet applied.

Thank you for your reply. I was more worried about the proof of remote work as I wish to begin teaching once I arrive in Thailand.

He has payment slips from the platforms - no idea about any employment contract though.

If you are going to teach english to Thai people, then DTV is not the right visa.

Your work should be directed to customers outside of Thailand.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I should have mentioned I don’t plan on teaching Thai students! Post has been edited, thanks.

Not all Embassies will accept a new “compagny” with no proof of customers etc.

Okay thank you. So I should probably begin teaching before I apply.
