TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a Malaysian, inquired about their options regarding overstaying a tourist visa in Thailand due to the embassy's refusal to provide an extension letter. Comments from the community provided various insights, including potential fines for overstaying, the risk of arrest and bans, alternative options to leave Thailand, and advice to approach the Malaysian consulate in Southern Thailand for assistance.

Wait for an announcement tomorrow. Or go into overstay mode, which MANY will. If you are at the south, the Malaysian Consulate at Songkhla will give you an extension letter. If you are at the east, central or north, tough luck, the Malaysian Embassy wont issue anymore letters. Another option is travel to Chiang Mai immigration, they will extend your stay without an embassy letter IF you have not extended before from the time you last came in until amnesty.

You are Malaysian, so you can just go to the Southern Thai border by train, or bus, and they will let you cross the border back into Malaysia. You just have to show your Malaysian passport.
it aint that easy. Land broder crossing requires approval letters from the thai and malaysian side and may take up to 3 weeks. Its not a case of flash your passport and pass.
, this was changed on Tuesday, yesterday. Contact your embassy.

It's 500 baht a day fine up to 20,000 baht. That's if you declare yourself. If you're caught by immigration police, even just a week overstay, it can be arrest and five year ban. Your choice
right? ๐ Looks HORRIBLE! And a guy with some clearly dubious entry habits... at best. No gloom and doom on overstay gents. 89 days, pay 20k baht on exit. Thx for your visit.
, just to add, if caught overstaying by the police, immigration agents, or any other official, it is immigration detention, and deportation back to your home country at your expense, and you stay in immigration jail until you can pay for your deportation flight. Being on overstay can get very serious very fast.
