Hi all!

I'm currently studying Thai language holding a NON ED visa on my Spanish passport. The visa is still valid until March 28th (original 90 days, not extended yet).

Recently I got a job offer and the HR manager told me they cannot process any paperwork for a NON B until I cancel my current NON ED because the latter would remain in immigration record.

Does this make sense? Shouldn't they be able to prepare all the documents required for me to just fly abroad and apply for a NON B?

You have a Single Entry Non Immigrant ED visa and you used this to enter Thailand. At that moment the visa is used and invalid. You are allowed to stay with the stamp Admitted until 28 March 2019. All your exits and entries, used visa, passport details and digital pictures stays in the Immigration database. It does not make any sense what the company is asking you.

Correct, they can prepare all the documents and apply for the Work Permit at the Ministry of Labor using the WP3 application method. With the Work Permit approved papers and company documents you can go to a Thai Consulate to apply for the Non Immigrant B visa.

, that's what I'd thought. They should be able to prepare all the documents so that I can go to a consulate abroad and apply for a Non B visa based on employment, right?

There's no reason why the company cannot prepare the documents in preparation to be submitted to immigration when you have cancelled your Edvisa.

I would be wary about what the company has said to you. They may not know about immigration regulations which is a big problem for you....
