There's a specific list of countries they will issue a debit card and Thailand is not one of them. So you would need to be from one of the countries that they do issue it for and apply from there.

it's probably easiest just to pay an agent to get the account open. It's not necessarily impossible to DIY but it has got a lot more difficult recently.

Anonymous participant 107 OX is theoretically 10 years, they are talking about getting the second 5 years and how it's easier to bounce than get it in country.

makes sense to go try and see how hard it is. Helpful for everyone else as well. No-one knows until someone goes to try to extend it.

Elite can't be done online first time, it's the exact same as any other visa. They will reject if you try to do it online first time on an entry.

LTR doesn't have 90 day reporting, they have 1 year checkins that are like the 90 day but only every year. These aren't renewals, they get stamped in until the end of their visa (up to 5 years) each time.

the general rule is you'll only be fined if you need something else from immigration in-country, you'll need to pay the fine before you get it.

They don't check it at the border.

Wise were also partnered with DeeMoney who, along with Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn and SCB, handled some incoming transfers for them on the back end. DeeMoney has suspended operations now so that's over, but they were involved previously.

it works more often with Bangkok Bank, even then not guaranteed but most times. If it doesn't come through as international, you can go get the "Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer" from the bank it came through, although this is a hassle.

in the unlikely event the extension requirements are easily met, it saves money and more importantly time to get it in country, particularly if you are far from a border/airport. A lot of DTV holders are busy working and it can be a hassle to have to schedule a border run around work.

If they'll take bank statement showing money in a foreign account and whatever other documents like showing proof you are working/have income, many people would be able to show that and if that's it, why not extend in-country for 1,900B.

I could see it being more complicated to the point it does make sense to just bounce but it's at least possible that immigration will only need holders to show stuff they have anyway or can get easily. Will be interested to see when someone actually tries to do an extension how they get on.

Bouncing is always a backup option in case immigration do want something you can't easily provide but I can see the appeal of not *having* to leave at the six month mark.

would be interested if immigration in country will take money in a foreign bank account which only has to be there immediately before applying. This would match the original requirements and would be easy enough for many but most other extensions they want it in a Thai account and there for a period before.
