@Pete ******
I can't think of any case of immigration at the airport asking for proof of funds for any other visa that requires it. And the MFA has said they won't, but they may do for extensions.

@Fr***
he said it was a single appointment with no follow ups. Didn't say what it was for. The point is though that actual reports of what people are getting are useful. Your "common sense" speculation doesn't add anything, it has no bearing on what's actually happening. For sure we know they don't need proof you need 5 years to give you the 5 years, the question then is how little. But you don't know the answer to that.

@Fr***
right, so this post has zero actual information about anything, it's purely your "common sense", which is already contradicted by reports from people who have got the visa.

@Marty ********
you pay up front and don't get it back if not approved but it does seem consulates are going back to people to ask for further documents where they want them, not just rejecting the application.

@Fr***
you would "think" but how is what you "think" actually useful information? What's actually useful is reports of people who got one, and there are reports from people who got it showing only very short need to be here. There's no indication of any need to prove you need to be here for five years, every indication is the opposite.

@Ja***
someone posted who got one with a single once off medical appointment so I don't think what you're saying is actually right, people ARE getting them without having to prove they need to be here for 5 years.

@Cr***
one of the requirements is "Document indicating current location (driving license, bank statement, or proof of stay)"

@Jean-Maurice *******
it's 500,000 THB or $16,000, if you're showing a statement in USD, it's $16k. Hopefully they will show you some leniency but that's the requirement from that embassy.
