I’ve been on a DTV visa for two months, and I’ve visited almost all the banks in Bangkok, including Kasikorn Bank, Bangkok Bank, and several others. I’ve even tried different branches in less touristy areas, but no one is willing to open a bank account for me.
This makes it very difficult to pay rent and utility bills every month. I would greatly appreciate any advice or leads that could help.
I’m marrying my Thai fiancé in 6 weeks then will move to Thailand in April.
I’m trying to get ready so wish to open a Thai bank account when I’m over for my wedding. Can I do this with my passport showing the 60 day tourist visa? We have been told by our agent that I need to get a different visa from the Thai embassy in London before traveling but I think this was when the tourist visas were only for 30 days. As they are now 60 days, can I open a bank account ? It will make life easier for me knowing I don’t have to apply now for a different visa as I’m leaving it late ! Thanks
Hello, I just returned from Laos in an attempt to get my retirement visa going. Thought I had everything I needed as far as my paperwork. Unfortunately when we went to the Thailand Embassy they said I didn't have the financial statements I needed. They said I have to show 800,000 bath in a Thai bank. I brought 20,000 when I came to Thailand but after trying to open a bank account at several banks without success. How do you open a bank account without a retirement visa? Thanks everyone. 👍
