What are your opinions on tax for DTV visa holders? Will you guys by willing to pay the tax? I feel like this is absurd because you don't earn your money from Thailand. The tax based on my research is also not tiny. It's almost around 200,000 THB per year for someone who makes 20k - 40kUSD (Correct me if I am wrong though). This amount exceeds far more than what I am comfortable paying for the rent for the entire year.
If that is indeed the case, I will not be applying for DTV. That is outrageous. A lot of money for what? You are not even earning from Thailand, this is literally just for breathing. I don't know why I feel this way and how other people can accept this. If it's true and most people are ok with this, what am I missing out on?
Hey everyone, does anyone in Bangkok have contacts for the DTV visa? I’m specifically looking at the Muay Thai option since there’s no clear info on the tax situation for digital nomads.
From what I understand, once you stay in Thailand for over 6 months, you become a tax resident, meaning any income earned while in TH is taxable. I haven’t seen any official clarification stating otherwise. Has anyone here been asked to pay taxes or provide extra documents while on the DTV?
I know similar things have been asked before and I know this group is about DTV (I have a DTV) and not tax. However, maybe someone can guide me in the right direction.
I have stayed 177 days in Thailand this year, meaning, if I wanted to, I could come over for a week and become a tax resident.
Now, I am not trying to avoid paying taxes in Thailand, I actually want to pay taxes in Thailand. I am not a tax resident in my homecountry anymore. So I would like to pay my total taxes in Thailand.
Does anyone have experience with paying taxes in Thailand as a digital nomad without another tax residency other than Thailand.
Can you point me in the right direction?
I have allready asked a Thai tax consultant, he didn´t seem to know or understand.
For the haters: I have always paid my taxes where I had to, I am not trying to avoid, I am trying to do right, understand and optimise.
