I entered on a Tourist Visa back in March 2021 and have since been on covid extensions. (UK passport)
In December 2021 I married my Thai husband.
I recently renewed my passport and got it back this week. I got everything transferred to my new passport yesterday. Unfortunately I don’t have enough time (15 days required) to transfer to a Non-O, my current extension expires on 21st March.
When I went to Chiang Mai immigration I asked one of the helpers if there was a 60 day extension I could apply for being married to a Thai, they said I should just apply for a COVID extension but maybe it will be denied.
Is the 60 day extension not available to someone who entered on a tourist visa? I literally have all my paperwork to transfer I just don’t have the time because I was waiting for my new passport with my new surname.
I recently received my visiting Thai family extension until the 25th of November. I will next attempt to get the Non-O visa based on marriage. How far in advance from my 60 day visit Thai family extension expiring should I apply for the Non-O? Thank you.
US passport. 1 year multiple entry Non O visa. Last stamp expired in April, Visa expired September 1st.
Going tomorrow with my wife and son to *hopefully* file a TM30 and also get the 60 day Thai family extension. I have not previously had a 60 day family extension.
I was at Chaeng Whattana a couple weeks ago to get all the handouts and requirements for everything, spoke to a woman at the information counter who was very helpful, looked at all my stuff and said it would all be no problem.
My question is that...while she had told me I would need to go to Muang Tong Thani for the TM30, she kind of left me feeling like (she didn't explicitly say, and I didn't think to ask at the time) I would then have to come to Chaeng Whattana to get the 60 day family extension. Now I'm seeing posts here saying that you apply for the 60 day extension at MTT, not Chaeng Whattana, Is this the case? I'm also seeing the posts about all the appointments being booked for the week already...I didn't even know you needed an appointment, the woman at Chaeng Whattana didn't mention that, she just said to go anytime. If this is a problem and they won't let me apply, CAN I go to Chaeng Whattana to apply for the 60 day extension or can it only be done at MTT?
Lastly, while I've got everyone's attention, concerning the TM30; My wife and I stay in an apartment with the rental agreement in her name. When asking about TM30 requirements at Chaeng Whattana I was told that in this situation my wife would be acting as the owner since she was the, 'owner of the contract' and that she would just present her ID and documents and then report me as a foreigner staying with her. I had never heard of it being done that way (have never filed a TM30 before myself) but the woman I spoke with seemed very sure that it can be done this way and said we would not need any documents from the actual owner of the apartment building...anyone in a similar situation and can confirm or deny this?
Hi folks. I’m a bit confused by all the posts and wondering what is needed for an extension and what is not. It seems the goal posts are constantly shifting.
I am a US passport holder and am married to a Thai national. I HAD a valid Non-immigrant O visa that expired months ago and have been told by Chaengwattana that I am on amnesty. As you all know, the Amnesty kept getting pushed right due to Covid and border closures. At the time of my non immigrant o expiration, I did not have the seasoned 400k thb for extension. I still don’t. My plans were to drive up to Mukdahan and apply for another Non immigrant O visa once the borders opened again. However, with the amnesty expiration date coming up in a few weeks, I find myself at a loss of what my options are. Some of the posts here say that I may apply for a family extension but I’m not sure if that applies to me. Do I need a letter from the us embassy?
I arrived in Thailand at the end of January on a 60 day tourist visa , extended for another 30 days and then amnesty. I have a Thai son who attends university here , would it be possible for me to extend for another 60 days with a " visit the Thai family extension "
