As a DTV holder has anyone successfully purchased Motorbike Insurance? I’m told that as it is still categorised as a “Tourist Visa” that Insurance companies may not insure!🙏👍 also I’ve only held my Thai Motorbike License for less than one year.
So after asking all different banks and agents, only two banks are currently ok for DTV holders:
1.Bangkok Bank ( have to buy insurance, probably around 5k-10K)
2. Krungsri bank
Try both of these banks without agents countrywide. Outside of Bangkok tend to be easier. Yes you need to have residency certificate from immigration. Driving license also helpful.
Otherwise, pay agents. Worth it if it's 5-6K. Don't pay more than that. Good luck!
Hi Friends! Under the 'everything else'. I just got my Thai motorcycle driver's license, bought a motorcycle, ready to hit the road!
Looking for a good private motorbike insurance, big bike, type1 most comprehensive coverage (if I read it right). Maybe something with an app on the phone, English speaking helpdesk, that sort of thing.
Still waiting for my license plates though. If I understood correctly I can use the document they gave me with the framenumber etc.
Last time I visited Thailand, I got insurance from TuneProtect as it was required due to Covid. I know currently it's not mandatory but I think everyone should have insurance for traveling. Nothing bad happened for my trip last time and I didn't have to use it at all.
I am travelling again this Friday (2 months TR visa) and would like to know which insurance should I get. Along with Covid, I am really interested to find something that covers Motorbike Travel (i.e. any unforeseen travel accident). Can you recommend something ?? How is your experience in case you are riding the bike yourself. (Have proper license i.e. My country license and IDP). I have seen mixed reviews of complains when they try to pin things on you if you get into an motorbike accident. (Mainly regarding License)
Also, is there any insurance company that covers Thailand and Combodia. (Going to Combodia for 2 weeks after my Thailand trip). It be nice if one company does both countries but if I have to get different insurance for Combida, I am fine with that as well.
