Hello all! My wife and I are back in the UK at the start of the process to apply to London for the COE to return. She has a WP with a valid extension until November. I have a valid extension based on retirement until December. I was attached to her visa as her dependent for a couple of years in the past but changed to retirement in Thailand a couple of years ago when I hit 50. 

I know a retirement extension in itself is not a qualification for entry at present. However I was hoping a few wise heads could give their opinion on whether RTE London are likely to accept our application as is or make me apply for a new visa as an "official" dependent of my wife. No probs with marriage certificate or re-entry permits.

If you left Thailand using the re-entry permit, you still have valid stays to return into Thailand. i would say use them

Thanks Robert. My concern is when they see the word "retirement" on my extension they will have a mind block. Cannot.

Fair point. Are you saying they will just look at the re-entry permit?Must be many with a retirement extension and valid re-entry permit though. They won't be able to use them yet. I'm figuring worst case they'll make me apply for the dependents visa.

your wife is the key with the Thai work permit to make application for early entry.

Contact the UK Thai Embassy for the requirements to make application. Also suggest you join this helpful Facebook group of UK expats like you seeking reentry to Thailand.
