TLDR : Answer Summary
If you pass through immigration before midnight on the 15th, you will not be considered to have overstayed your visa, even if your flight is on the 16th at 1 AM. The critical factor is clearing immigration by that cutoff time. Different users emphasize the importance of allowing enough time to clear customs and immigration before your flight, with suggestions to arrive at the airport early to avoid any issues.

You have to check in for international departures 3 hours before so when you’ve done it go straight through security & then immigration.

You should still be on the 15th so no overstay

Let me try to explain as there is to much talk about incorrect visions:

Immigration gives you days to stay on entry starting on day of arrival.

Those who think it is arranged by hours or even minutes are wrong.

IF in this example, your stamp mention "Admitted until 15 Mar 2025" it simply means you have to leave Thailand BEFORE 23:59 hours on 15 Mar 2025.

So those who answer leave on the 15th are correct.

Now on airports the Immigration can use their flexibility, they might stamp your passport with overstay but NO fines if your overstay is less than 1 day.

Be aware ONLY on International Airports, NOT at border check points.

For those who try to explain otherwise and just claim I paid, please check your stamps.

Cross before midnight. You should be at the at least 45 mins before boarding also. And allow time to get to the gate also from immigration.

Never overstay under any circumstances even though you won't get a fine for that.

It will come back to bite you later.

Better you enjoy a lounge

@Barry *****
Stamps are going to bite you later?

if you're on overstay you are breaking the law. it doesn't matter if its 1 minute . Overstay is overstay.

Don't do it or encourage it.

You will be fine, dont make the mistake the other way round, i waited to just after midnight to go through and was fined

It happened to me. I actually went to immigration to do a 30 day extension. When they saw that I actually only need one day they said no need to do it if it is less than 24 hours. You will get a stamp saying overstayed by less then 24 hours and no fine.

You have 24 hours grace.

You must of been 2 days over
Brandon ************
@Gethin ******
grace period only for fine of course. Still get the stamp if within 24 hours

when departing by air on an overstay of less than 24 hrs you would receive a stamp saying overstay less than 24 hrs fine waived. So what exactly happened with you? How much was your fine 500 or 1000 baht
Simon **********
@Wannikea ********
i was 20 minutes on overstay, was about 3 years ago.

@Simon *********
so it was 2 days on overstay and 1000 baht fine?

I don't think so. Once you pass immigration, you have technically left the country. They couldn't even stamp you for overstaying unless they use a stamp in the future.

If you clear Thai Immigration before midnight, you will NOT 🚫 NOT be on OVERSTAY.
