TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses recent changes in the application process for the Soft Power visa in Thailand, particularly regarding the increasing requirement for proof of income. Many applicants report that embassies, such as in Ho Chi Minh City, are now requesting evidence of income to ensure proper financial support for living in Thailand, as a response to rising concerns about scammers and illegal activities. Various opinions are shared on the type of documentation that might be acceptable, such as bank statements and brokerage account records, highlighting the frustrations and challenges faced by those applying for this visa.
People have to understand there is agencies, gymes etc that benefit from stricher rules, in these groups. They are probably reporting all work arounds. Some people just talk too much When they think they are safe.

Alot are about to get a rude awakening as this is gonna be all embassies soon from what I was told by a friend who works in immigration
And that's only the beginning... There's a major crackdown on scammers, illegal businesses, illegal workers, and individuals with warrants who are exploiting exemptions and other types of visas. Unfortunately, the DTV is also attracting that kind of fraud since it's the easiest visa to obtain. I like the DTV initial idea (Digital Nomads) but it's just too easy to get it...

I've said from the start this visa is gonna be issues for both thai and tourists alike for this reason

They just asked me the same too š I am not sure what to put yet. Did you recently put a lump sum into your bank account? Maybe because of that.. I will explain that and show them statements from my brokerage account, other than that, not sure of what else I can do
It is not because of a recent deposit. As mentioned above SP is the main route scammers and rogue agents use. It started last December aand is now becoming more widespread. If you are working, show statements with salary deposit. Brokerage accounts can be accepted to show your financial independence.
ohh I see, that makes sense... although makes it hard for me. I am unemployed right now, so no employment income. I will just show them the brokerage account and Neo bank account statements and write them a letter explaining everything... hopefully it works.
not sure how i can help u but i do have proof of income jut annoyed i have to do alot of work to prove i have income. Spent 5 hours so far compiling the 100s of invoices i have zzzz
yes i gave a lump sump cus my stupid bank doesnt give monthly end month bank balance.

I applied as unemployed and provided 6 months of transactions but they still asking the same transaction history and proof of monthly income. Not sure what they wanna see. What you guys submitted?
Irina Dondyuk im just gonna show my individual bank transfers and business invoice. Im a freelancer. I didnt want to apply via freelance as I have 100s of transaction everyday (like fiverr) from each customer and so many invoices and its gonna take a long time to compile everything. Hence i took the soft power route. But oh well gonna spend the next few hours compiling

Just be honest about where your funds came from and it might be fine. I knew someone that was doing soft power and transferring funds from their brokerage each month and that was enough to satisfy the request since they were showing the money was not earned illegally.

HCMC is known to ask for proof of income for soft power. you can see many others on here stating the same thing
Drat. Then I should have uploaded proof of income from the get-go instead, even though it wasn't asked for in the portal. Lesson learned. Still waiting for response, been Pending Approval since 6 Feb.

Yes, more and more embassies are requiring it.
1. To ensure you can support yourself in Thailand for five years (rather than just proving 500K; which isn't enough for 5 years).
2. There is currently a major crackdown on scammers, illegal businesses, and other abuses, many of which exploit tourist exemptions and, eventually, other visa types. As a result, expect stricter rules for obtaining and maintaining a visa, as well as for services like opening a bank account.

So what did you give them? Or what do you plan to provide?

Anonymous participant thank you so much for sharing! Iām considering this visa too and also is a freelancer so this question was bothering me a lot :) many people here who apply, they all have business contracts whatever, and of course it is so much easier for them.

Anonymous participant sorry for asking, but what do you mean under ābusiness invoiceā? The regular one you usually give to clients for your services? And do you need to prove it with the proceeding payment from the clientās side?

They want to ensure that the funds in the bank are legally obtained, as they are committed to preventing any unlawful activity.

Embassies have begun asking SP applicants for employment and income evidence. It is not detailed but it has become a follow up request. When I applied in person In Taipei last Dec SP applicants were shocked by having to give that info.
