Why does the DTV dependent visa application ask for the dependent's employer and income if they are not earning?

Does anyone know why when you select spouse for a dependent visa, it asks the dependent’s employer, occupation and income?

The whole idea of the dependent option is to make it possible for spouses who aren’t earning an income. And yet the way it’s phrased makes me hesitant to put down $0 for income because it feels like their visa would be rejected…

Anyone have experiences they can share about their spouse applying for the DTV dependent visa? Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The application for the DTV dependent visa in Thailand asks for the dependent's employer, occupation, and income details, which can cause confusion for those who believe the dependent option is for spouses without income. Users suggest that providing this information is not compulsory and may be a measure to prevent visa abuse and ensure legitimacy. One commenter successfully indicated 'no income' while providing proof of funds, highlighting that honesty in this section is advisable.

My husband is a remote worker and I wrote "no income" for me. Just proof of funds

I don't think it is compulsory, but with all the scams and people abusing exemptions and easy-to-get visas, there are more and more checks to ensure people have a legitimate occupation. As well, that's a guarantee the person wouldn't work in Thailand. Hence, they ask for the occupation of dependents. Just tell them the truth.
