Hey guys, looking at applying for DTV for my family and I (myself being the primary visa holder and my 2 kids as dependants & my partner/spouse.) We are currently travelling around Asia and starting up content creating, but haven’t got a professional portfolio done yet as it’s still in its infancy. Have sufficient funds to satisfy the 500,000 baht criteria.

Couple of questions:

Would it be best to apply under soft power, like Muay Thai (I’m actually interested in doing this)

Also, my partner and I aren’t married, but have children together, would she still qualify as my spouse?

Appreciate any feedback/suggestions 🤙🏽

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking to apply for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) for themselves and their family while traveling in Asia. They meet the financial requirement of 500,000 baht but are concerned about their non-married partner's eligibility for a dependant visa. The comments indicate that while soft power options like Muay Thai may help with the visa application, the partner does not qualify as a spouse without marriage, and each parent may need to demonstrate financial stability individually.

Surely if you are creating content in Thailand that is working in Thailand so doesn't qualify as remote working that the DTV specifies...

If you are not married then she is on her own visa wise. She does not qualify as a spouse, no matter how many children you have together. Get married, problem solved.

Soft power is very easy to qualify.

You must be married in order for her to get a dependant visa. But soft power is so easy to qualify that she can likely get one on her own. But you might have to do some extra work on the bank account though like moving funds to a different account for her or seeing if the embassy will accept a sponsorship letter, if you don't have enough for 500,000 in each of your accounts.

Also note that some embassies might require 500,000 for each person while others only require the primary visa holder to show 500,000.

thank you for your response.

We have sufficient funds to hold 500,000 in each of our accounts. Will the amount of time the funds being in her account, be an issue?

that depends on the embassy. Some only want to see a balance, some want 1 month, some want 3 months, some want 6 months
