I'm in Chiang Mai. My 60 days Visa-Free will expire on January 26. Can I go on January 6 to process my extension or do I need to wait for the last week on Monday January 20? Thanks for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can apply for a 30-day visa extension in Chiang Mai when you have 45 days or less remaining on your current visa stamp. This means you can indeed apply on January 6, as your visa-free period expires on January 26. It is recommended to avoid going on Mondays or Fridays due to potential crowds. Additionally, ensure you have a copy of the TM30 form showing your registration.

In Chiang Mai you can go apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp so no problem at all going the 6th.

Although I personally wouldn't go to an immigration office on a Monday or Friday ๐Ÿ˜› Tues/Wed/Thurz are not as busy generally

The 30 day extension will be added to the current expiration date you have. You can go to Central Festival Mall or the main office out by the airport for the 30 day extension up there.

You WILL need to have a copy of the TM30 showing you're registered as staying where you stay
