Hi guys. Just had an issue today as a South African applying for a non-immigrant B visa in KL. They went through my paperwork and saw everything was correct, but would not process it due to a new ruling barring south Africans and other nations from applying in Malaysia. Is anyone aware of this or how we go about getting our visas without having to fly back to SA? They took my paperwork and said that they would try to get it through,  but it may take a month which means another trip at the least. It is already very expensive and I really want to get things sorted properly.

No. Just a 30 day visa exemption. They should contact you, but try get as much info as possible like reference numbers or a direct person to contact.

I left my paperwork and they had processed it a month later, but because I was unsure of if they would process it correctly, my employer prepared new paperwork and sent me to Penang. They did get back to me though saying that it was all ready and sorted 28 days later, but I was already travelling.

South Africa is definitely NOT on the list of countries that can't apply there.

Funny really.

Israel is not on the list and could theoretically apply for a visa in Malaysia. Just a bit of a bugger, they are not allowed in to the country :-)

It's a race thing. There is no ruling there against South Africans. We had a South African teacher get his non-B down there last week, but a black teacher from France was denied 😭 Same paperwork for both of them and they applied together. There is a ruling against certain African nations in that they have to apply in their home countries, but not SA. You could always ask them to show you the regulation and watch them scramble to try and print something up or write it down 😆
