Hi everyone, I need some serious advice regarding staying in Thailand over extension (Non-B)

In my case: I have recently resigned from work. My work permit expires on 28.08.2019 and my non-b extension expires on 11.11.2019.

HR department told me they will cancel my work permit on 15.02.2019, and I need to leave Thailand on 23.02.2019 (They sounded flexible). Please note : My passport is with me, never handed over to them after my resignation ( my extension expires on 15.11.2019).

Now my question is : If I stay here two-three months more to find another suitable job would that be a problem ? Has anyone faced any problem similar to my case as immigration rules always changes.

I have googled it but wanted to know real experiences.

Something that may come up. He said he already resigned. I know someone who just a while ago resigned (he was on an extension). He resigned on Friday. They ca cancelled WP on Tuesday then went to Immigration same day. They fined him for overstay saying he should have went in on Friday.

If allowed to stay due to working means if you stop working on Friday you leave Friday and not the next week. It is that simple and during application of this Extension of Temporary Stay all signed they acknowledge the terms and conditions. Somehow it seems some people forget to read and ask but just signed as requested.

You need to take the receipt of canceling your work permit to the immigration office with your termination paperwork and cancel your extension.

BOTH the work permit and your passport are in YOUR name, that means you're on the line if things mess up NOT your employer.

Get the receipt of your work permit being canceled, take it to the immigration office and cancel your extension. That's how it is done.

This was my exact experience last year. Robert above is a moderator so follow his advice. Just want to add... Who told you you can stay till the 23rd? Your employer? Don't believe them... Only believe immigration. When you go cancel your extension of stay, you can apply for a 7 day extension denied" stamp to get your stuff in order and then leave. But if you are planning to come back here for two or three months anyway, just leave and go to Vientiane (or another consulate abroad) to apply for a single entry tourist visa which gives you 60 days plus 30 day extension. idk about immigration checking wp status but at some point they'll find out. Again, it does not matter what date you are stamped into the country till. This is a big mistake many people make. Wp ends, reason for extension ends, you MUST report to immigration immediately. You can do this one week earlier too. Doesn't have to be on the exact date.

Thank you very much for your answers guys. Yes, i am very doubtful about my HR's competencies. I am just wondering, can immigration track my work permit status in their systems? ( should be, but again its Thailand - everything is too flexible)

My passport is still with me with extension till Nov,2019.

You have an Extension of Stay based on Working. This means as long as you actually work you are allowed to be in Thailand. If your Work Permit is cancelled on 15.02.2019 you must cancel this Extension of Stay on 15.02.2019. If you stay longer you are in overstay with all the fines and blacklist rules in place.
