Does anyone know about getting a medical visa in country? Had surgery yesterday, and doctor willing to write letter, but I don't know what the actual process of getting it...

I think the hospitals usually have staff to apply for the medical extensions. My work colleague father had an emergency operation when making a yearly check and the hospital (Sukhumvit) sorted it out for them as he couldn't travel for a number of weeks.

there is no medical VISA :( there is an extension of stay granted for medical reasons.

What type of stamp are you on now here?

your doctor needs to give you a medical certificate requesting the medical extension. They have a preprepared form to use.

Easier for doctor to request if for 60 days... as added medical documentation needed for 90 days request from doctor and hospital...per my doctor.

so you're on amnesty now which means you need to get out to the immigration office and apply for the medical extension BEFORE amnesty runs out..

The medical extension can be granted for up to 90 days at a time for 1900baht
