ATTN ALL MEMBERS: re; 90 Day Reporting info

Destination Thailand Visa holders ARE obligated to file a 90 day report if you stay in the country for 90 continuous days. If you leave the country before that, the 90 day count down clock stops and starts back up when you stamp in to thailand again.

Your 90 day report would be due 89 days after the date you stamp in to thailand (the day you arrive is day one :O no matter what time you stamp in )

At most offices you are required to do the first 90 day report in person (but you can certainly try the online program, worst case you'll get rejected and have to go in person anyway)

For in person the "window of opportunity" is from 2 weeks BEFORE the due date until 1 week AFTER the due date <- meaning you have a 3 week window to apply in person :)

For online the "window of opportunity" is from 2 weeks BEFORE the due date down until 1 week BEFORE the due date <- meaning you have a 1 week window online

Online reporting link; [members only]

The online 90 day reporting program works like this;

The minute you submit a 90 day report online you get an email that says this

That email means nothing :O other than you applied online to file a 90 day report

Then you wait for one of these emails

This will have the PDF file in it that you print out and put in your passport telling you when your next 90 day report is due

This means it was not approved and they'll usually have a reason in the email as to why

Make sure you take time, get the address exactly as it is on the TM30, because those two systems cross check each other

Also online for the two variable dates; USE the calendar drop down tab and select the dates that way. The first box is your most recent date of arrival in thailand AND the second box "Stay Visa Expire" is when your CURRENT ENTRY STAMP expires (not the DTV 5 year visa expiration date)

NOTE: (while I am not advocating this I will relate it to you all)

IF you don't do your 90 day reporting and just go to leave the country at the 180 day mark to bounce out/back and get a new stamp NOTHING will happen at the airport or land border :O .

Those immigration officers don't fool with 90 day reporting at all, they don't care in the least if you ever did one or not. They'll just stamp you out without any question.

As a rule the only time having a 90 day report filed on a DTV matter is IF you're going to the immigration office to get a certificate of residence (for a bank account, driver's license, etc) OR going to get the one 180 day in country extension you're allowed to apply for per entry.

Keep in mind the maximum fine for failure to file a 90 day report (whether you're 8 days late OR 8 months late) is 2000baht, that fine doesn't go up, but as I said officers at the land borders or the airport won't care in the least if you ever filed a 90 day report or not when you stamp out of the country

Good luck to everyone in their DTV endeavors (y) Hope this was helpful

TLDR : Answer Summary
Holders of Destination Thailand Visas (DTV) must file a 90 Day Report if they remain in Thailand for 90 continuous days. If they leave before that period, the countdown stops and resumes upon re-entry. Reports can be filed in person or online, with specific windows for both methods. The post details the process, including timelines, required documents, and potential fines for non-compliance, as well as firsthand experiences from community members.

you're confusing the entry stamp you get when you enter the country on a DTV with 90 day reporting

Iโ€™m such a goodie two shoes and so scared of getting in trouble Iโ€™ll probably do the 90 day report each timeโ€ฆbut itโ€™s very good to know that odds are slim Iโ€™ll face any issues if something goes awry

What a useless thing is this 90 day report. Really need some wise man to revise all these useless laws of visas and 90 days report etc. Today I see a man who got married in malaysia and have 5 years visa without have to keep 400k baht in bank account like Thailand.

- great post thank u! sounds like I don't really need to do it.. Can u advise if for first several months in Thailand I plan on bouncing around the country every week or so to sightsee so I won't have any leases or tm30's but eventually I'll want to sign a lease. Should I do the 90 day reporting like right before signing the lease?

the land lord won't care if you ever filed a 90 day report or not, make sure once you do settle down you get a TM30 filed showing that's where you "live" here

Hi Tod thanks! Iโ€™m going to Hong Kong for a week so that technically means Iโ€™ll file my report 97 days after first entry? Rather than the 90 days completely resetting after I return. You made it clear I just wanted to double double check ๐Ÿ˜€

@James *****
no, when you exit the country the 90 day count down clock STOPS and when you come back in it's RESET and your next 90 day report is due 89 days from the date you come back in

It takes 2+ hourswait in person in Bangkok.

Wasted life.

It's unclear to say the clock stops when you leave and starts be even you enter. It *RESETS* each time you enter.

In 5 years online has never worked, not even during covid when i never left....

Also, you should mention that if you're arrested for whatever reason the fine increases to 5000 thb.

yes, you are so right. It took hours in immigration for a useless thing of 90 day report, just to give tough time to foreigners. Thanks to Bigjoke who make these laws and make it really hard for foreigners to get visa and everything has to be done through an agent who give some bribe to immigration officers and then everything will be done quickly. I remember when I was registering my marriage in Bangkok amphur, in 2 months they didn't call me but when I give 8000 baht to officer, they did it within one hour.

Thank you very much Tod. I am due to go to chaeng wattana on Monday. I am only here for 1 more week afterwards, and the thought of standing in line for hours is really deflating just to report, then leave 8 days later. It has been a nightmare getting a TM30 from my condo owner, the whole process seems such effort.

To be honest, if you're leaving

just follow this part of the post

IF you don't do your 90 day reporting and just go to leave the country at the 180 day mark to bounce out/back and get a new stamp NOTHING will happen at the airport or land border ๐Ÿ˜ฎ .

Those immigration officers don't fool with 90 day reporting at all, they don't care in the least if you ever did one or not. They'll just stamp you out without any question.
