What do I need to know about the 90-day report process in Thailand for DTV visa holders?

#noticepaper

I'm completely confused about the 90-day report process. I'm about to file my first one, but I'm hearing I need a white paper called '90-day report notice' that I wasn't given when I entered Thailand at Suvarnabhumi Airport on a DTV visa. Will I face problems without this notice? Can anyone explain this requirement to me and the exact documents I will need for my 90-day report process.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 90-day report process in Thailand can be confusing for new expats. To file your first 90-day report, you need to fill out the TM47 form at an immigration office. While there is a notice paper called the '90-day report notice' that some may receive, it is not mandatory for filing your report. You should bring your passport, a copy of your TM30 form, and the pages with your entry stamp and visa. It's important to remember that you can file your report 14 days prior to your due date or up to 7 days after. Many expats recommend visiting immigration in person for this process.

This notice is usually stapled in your passport when you make your first long term extension off a visa. It’s only there to make you aware of when your report is due. It’s not needed, just a reminder.

They won’t put anything in your passport on arrival. You have to add 89 days to your entry date to work out your report date.

You can file 2 weeks prior up to 1 week later in person.

The "Notice" is the paper you get once you've done your report. You can't have one unless you've done one before and it's only valid until you leave the country or you do your next one.

Do hotels provide a tm30? Will they know what I need when I ask for it?

The 90 day reporting is so clean and effortless! Every time I see those Immigration officers, they make my stay in Thailand truly worth it! I wish I could do it every month. I love to see them, and talk to them, possibly toss it under the table, yeah.. I love doing it 4x a year! It enhances my appreciation for Thailand. It's amazing.

Anonymous participant you can try filing one yourself if he will give you the details, or move somewhere that does

She already gave me one before I left Thailand but when I re-entered Thailand it needs to be updated but she was unable to provide me and her agent even ask me for 600 thb for TM30.

Anonymous participant some immigration offices don’t ask for tm30 (Samui for example), or you can show up with the old one and play dumb farang. It’s not like they’re super strict about that. Or check in some cheap hotel nearby for 1 night and get tm30 from them

Anonymous participant they are breaking the law by not reporting and are greedy for charging you to file. It takes only a minute to do it. You can ask for the login details and do it yourself. It's possible that your immigration office doesn't require refiling if staying at the same place after a trip abroad, you should find out if that's the case.

Just did my report in Bangkok. I brought with me a copy of my TM30, passport info page, entry stamp page, my visa and passport. Fill out the TM47 form at immigration and you're good to go.

In theory. In practice, it can be difficult to obtain it and we can't do much more. It's sick we can't fill that form by ourselves. Not everyone lives in a big city, where it's probably much easier.

I had to explain at least 5 times to each of my landlords what is tm30 and I used to hear: it's only for birmas citizens or only for hotels... Or "this condo isn't officially for rent, so I can't fill it for you"

Anonymous participant 895 it should be in your list of questions you ask before you sign the contract. Can you supply a copy of the TM30. If the answer is no, don’t move in there.
