Hi, has anyone applied for a 1-year education visa at Changwattana recently? I need to do it for my daughter and was told that the two steps (applying for ED visa, applying for multiple entry) require going to two different buildings. Is this correct? Thank you.

and I think because the O/P is getting different information from their child's school we're done.

I am 100% sure that the timeline I outlined is how it works, UNLESS someone is greasing the wheels to get all the stamps at once (and that is clearly beyond the scope of the visa group

If you mean extension of stay based on children studying here then what I do after I get the annual extension of stay I get the multi rentry permit at the airport much faster

Actually they really have that re-entry section at Chaengwattana running like a well oiled machine now. I think it's taking about 15-20 minutes max to get a re-entry permit at section C-2

she is talking about her DAUGHTER getting the ED visa based on being a student here. Not the mother getting a "dependent visa" to take care of a foreign child here

You need to have 15 days or more left on your daughters current entry stamp (30 day visa exempt, 60 day tourist visa OR a 30 day extension from one of those)>

You will take documentation from the school to the Immigration office and go to Section C-1 <- the section that issues non-immigrant type visas.

You will turn in the documentation, pay 2000baht, get a receipt that states to return in 14 days. You show up with the passport and the receipt on that date and they stamp in a non-Immigrant Type ED visa, they stamp it used and give a new 90 day entry stamp

Thank you. I was told by the school visa officer that I could do everything in one day at the immigration office. I think she meant two different sections rather than two different buildings. Doesn't seem correct then.

THEN you wait until you have 45 days or less left on that new 90 day entry stamp and go back to apply for the yearly extension in Section N (the ED visa section) for 1900baht.

Once she gets the year extension you can then go to Section C-2 and buy a re-entry permit (single re-entry is 1000baht, multiple re-entry is 3800baht).

That's how it works.
