TLDR : Answer Summary
The user successfully received their DTV (Education) visa from the Thai embassy in London after fulfilling the necessary requirements, which included attending a language school to learn Thai. The process took seven days after submitting additional documents as requested. Community members asked about the duration of processing, the specific language school attended, required documents, and weekly class schedules. They also expressed interest in the availability and costs of Thai language courses.
What school did you enrol in please? I was going to go with the Mauy Thai option and just use the gym to train but also take Thai lessons. Prefer the Thai school option for DTV.
I asked the language school if they would be okay with me answering questions like yours....they had no problem at all....BUT , they were concerned...due to all the negative comments on this site and other visa sites stating categorically that language is not a soft power option, that staff at the embassy in London may have some comeback.
From comments on here it appears I am the only person in the world that got DTV based on learning Thai language . So I hope you understand my reluctance to divulge the school.
Having said that, all I did was Google language schools in Bangkok...if you go this route make sure the school has a government licence/approval.
good point George. Why are people telling you that study of language is not one of the soft power categories when you have the visa. Could you share the of language school you used please.

I have just been reviewing all threads on soft power. I see you didnβt want to divulge the name of your school. Do you know where I can find a list of accredited/registered schools that meet criteria for the DTV. You mention that they requested more documents from you. Can you shine some light on this to help out our application. Much appreciated.
George, I am German and I would like to apply for a DTV softpower studying Thai language. Please, tell me which school in Thailand (which city) did you enroll in?
I didn't make the rules. The DTV softpower category includes cooking, boxing, medical apts etc... it does not include studying Thai because that falls under the Education visa. So what is your question?
