Morning all,

I will be extending my visa based on retirement again in February.

My visa expires February 11th.So i will probably renew on 8th-10th February

my question is

- if i withdraw 400k from my 800k bank account

what is the latest date I can return the funds to the account?

What I wouldn't do is cut your new application for extension so close to your expiration date. All it'll take is you missing one document and you could run onto overstay. As I said you can apply for your new year extension when you have 30 days or less left on this one.

AND you noticed I said the money needs to be in the bank for 2 months on the date you APPLY for the extension, NOT on the date your current extension expires.

Tod Daniels, in most cases if you are so close to your expiration date, and are missing a document, but have the rest, they can give you a 30 day extension at bt1900 in order for you to get the document, and not face overstay penalties. At least that is what they did for me, but under a different visa type.

That might be something specific to the immigration office, OR might be something to do with your visa that you were currently on and applying for (i.e. enter on a tourist visa, applying for an "retirement" visa).

The requirements are 800K baht in the account for 2 months before you apply for your extension, it needs to stay in the account for 3 months after you get your extension granted AND then the balance can't go below 400K baht the rest of the year..

you need to have 800K baht in your thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you APPLY for your extension..

AND

If your extension expires on the 11th of Feb most offices will let you apply when you have 30 days or less left on that stamp (so you could apply for your new extension anytime after Jan 12 if you wanted to). You don't lose any days going early, they add the new year extension to your current expiration date.
