Just passed immigration at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, and got normal 30day entry in my UK passport (no visa).

I don’t need 60 day this time, so did not challenge it.

Just sharing for info.

The Thai government have been very clever about the new visa for 60 days. People will book a flight to thailand 🇹🇭. Thinking they can stay stay for 60 days it's like dangling a carrot 🥕. Wake up People

I have been following the whole topic recently because I have a friend who is currently backpacking between Thailand and Laos. And he told me that he got 60 days from the land entry from Laos to Thailand

 Tell your friend that a wrong stamp needs to be corrected at the same place where he received it. A wrong stamp does NOT allow him to stay to the date that was stamped in wrongly. And that he will be in "overstay" from the 31st day on! I show you something very funny now. This guy was stamped in for two years (!!) regardless he should have been stamped in for 60 days, on a single entry tourist visa. You need to know, this mess can happen! Errare humanum est!

 Okay thanks, but he wasn't planning on staying there for more than a month anyway. And he entered from the capital of Laos towards Udon thani

Can my friend ask which border checkpoint he was at.And I don't think my friend will make the effort to change anything because I think he won't stay there that long because he wants to visit all of Asia

 he should get that checked ASAP - a few years ago I got stamped for 60 days instead of 30 days due to a mistake by the staff at that same border - as a result I overstayed by 30 days and Bangkok immigration couldn't make allowances.

You can leave Thailand for few days and come back then you get stamp for another 30 days.

Bhola Lakhiani Possible. I entered Thailand 3 times within 2 months. From Poland then from Malaysia then from Cambodia.That happend this year between February 21 to April 6

Yes the 60 days stamp for an exempt entry hasn’t kicked in yet. It may. But no one knows when.

Suggestions range from late June or early July. We will just have to wait and see what transpires.

 I highly doubt that unless they were Russian. Russians currently have an option of a 60 day entry or a 30 day entry. The former cannot be extended nor changed to any other visa in country. The latter can.

 Well then the only other explanation I can surmise is that actually had a tourist visa and were given a 30 day exempt stamp in error. The person then queried why he was given a 30 day stamp and the officer corrected it to a 60 day stamp when they realised the error.
