Hi guys I've been hearing visa exempt is going to be changed in June for uk visitors....before I go booking flights would anyone know if this is true or merely a rumour??

that's a good question. I wish to add another good question: Will we be able to do a border run before the 60 days stay permit expires, and receive another 60 days visa-exempt entry stamp? This would bring the total to 120 days

Hi all quick update, I got back on Saturday June 1st and got 30 days, I did question it and was lead off to an area with several immigration staff and they said yes it's been announced but it's not law yet, and now today June 2nd I see a story saying it will happen late June or early July, so will have to wait I guess....

Just book; does it really matter if you get an additional 30 days for free if it changes to 60 days? Even if it doesn't change and everything stays the same then you just do a tourist visa. You're acting like the world is about to change in some meaningful way; it's not. It's just a trip to Thailand, and you'll have plenty visa options.

The UK is included as it is one of the original 57 on the visa waiver list. Too many know-it-alls around here who actually know nothing and would be better staying quiet unless they actually have something knowledgable worth contributing.

If you're only planning on a 60-90 days trip, go ahead and book it if there's a bargain to be had. Worst case scenario is you'll need to apply for an evisa, which is very straightforward.

why do you think that the UK isn’t included? The UK was part of the original visa free countries and is part of the 53 mentioned surely. Those 53 should go from thirty days ( Which the UK currently enjoys) to sixty days. At least that’s my interpretation.

he's come to his incorrect conclusion because the article uses the incorrect "visa free" words, as in free of the need for a visa, instead of Visa Exempt. So he's assumed it's something different, that excludes UK, which it isn't.

Nothing official yet. The cabinet approved a list of items but that doesn't make it law yet. No one knows any details and there are rumors that it's not starting until September, despite the press release saying June. But there's no way they can get everything they mentioned finished in 3 days from the date of announcement. You'll just need to keep an eye on the news.
