TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK resident currently in Hua Hin on a tourist visa seeks advice on the best visa to apply for as they will be traveling in and out of Thailand for business purposes but not working in Thailand. A comment suggests researching various visa types on the official Thai e-visa website.

Without knowing personal details it is not easy to point out the correct visa for a long term stay.

assuming you have absolutely no work related activity inside Thailand at all why not look at a Non-O visa for retirement. You can get a 90 day Non-O in country and then extend this every 12 months. You'd also need the multiple re-entry permit along side it to keep each extension alive when you exit Thailand.

Your local immigration office should have a hand out detailing requirements

thank hadn't thought of that angle.

Be aware that if you work while inside Thailand, and it does not matter where the company came from of where customers spent their days, you need the Non Immigrant B visa and a work permit.

that's the confusing part.I will not be carrying out any work in Thailand but travelling elsewhere to work.Thailand will be my "in between jobs location.
