I am moving to Thailand to be with my Thai wife in April and plan to retire there with her.

I understand that I will need a Spouse Visa. I hope to be in the Rayong area. Can anybody suggest somebody who could help with Visa, Bank Accounts, Driving Licence etc. TIA

Apply from your local Thai embassy (on line) for Non-Imm O visa (I agree, retirement is less paperwork than spouse, but requires a higher deposit in the bank). When you arrive in Thailand, that visa gives you 90 days. Visit the Immigration Office where you will be living and pick up their handout on Residency certificate (needed to open a bank account) and 12 month visa extention. Open bank account with deposit of 400k or 800k, depending on which type you choose. 60 days later lodge your application for the visa extension.

If you do need an agent for any reason, I don't know what's available in Rayong but you could try a Facebook group there. Many options in Pattaya but, if you decide to use one, insist they process your application in Rayong - much easier for you to do it yourself when renewal is due

you will need to apply for a 90-days Non-Imm-O Family visa in the E-Visa system of the Thai embassy in your home country. You need proof that you are married to a Thai wife, and proof of a minimum of equivalent 400,000 THB on your bank account.

 I think you missed when they changed the rules a few years ago. When you apply for the 90-days single entry Non-Imm-O marriage visa, you need to show the same financial proof which you also need for the application to the 1-year Extension of Stay. 400,000 THB or 40,000 THB monthly income

 I live in Thailand most of the year.i have never had to show 400,000. In the bank with a 90 day non o visa.

I extend for 1 month every time. I come back to uk for a month or so for work. Apply online for another 90 day non o based on marriage to a thai. Iv done this for nearly 20 years never had to prove 400,000 in bank.

Other visas ie retirement yes but not 90 days.

 the Thai Embassy London requires either 400,000 THB or the equivalent in GBP in your bank account or proof of minimum monthly income over 40,000 THB or equivalent, for the application to the single entry 90-days Non-Imm-O marriage (family) visa. . . it absolutely amazes me that you don't know this

 yes you have to show bank statement proof of money enough to support yourself while in Thailand but never had 400,000 in the account I show them.

Yes I have a lot more then 400,000 in saving account

But please believe me iv never had to show 400,000 for 90 days non o

 you could be right, I have Googled 90 day non o visa requirements, 1 of the requirements is 1k income every month into uk bank account. Or 400,000 in thai account. Just looked at documents I sent for evisa on my phone, my bank account statement showed more than the monthly income requirements, so that's why I thought it hadn't changed.it changed April 11th. I came in March last year and came back in September after a month extension, and a trip to Vietnam,when I went to my local immigration office chainart province, they didn't ask for proof of funds ???

 for the application to the visa, the deposit can be on any account anywhere as long as it is in your name. For the application to the extension the deposit must sit in your Thai bank account

 you cannot get the 90-days visa in Savannakhet any more without proof of 400,000 THB in your bank account. Savannakhet discontinued this by January 1st when they went to the e-visa system. General Consulate Savannakhet and the Yangon embassy were the very last to allow this

 the requirements I posted are for the application to the 90-days Non-Imm marriage visa. You need the financial proof for both the visa AND for the extension. Everywhere on Thai embassies and consulates of the whole World thru the e-visa system

Retirement visa will be far less hassle than spouse visa.. Conveying your licence to a Thai one is easy to do yourself, highly recommend doing this in Rayong.. It is appointment only now apparently.
