I was asked for 6 months accomodation in BKK by HCMC embassy. I dont have a rental agreement and had only booked a hotel for a week that had been attached. Ive now booked a different hotel for 6 months in 2 seperate booking of 90days as thats all it will let me. Im actually staying at a free apartment owned by a family friend but have no documentation to prove this.

It's so bizarre they ask for 6 months proof of residence as this visa is designed people to not necessarily live in Thailand as it's classified as long term tourist visa.

Yes from the looks of it, that’s what they’re trying to do. Perhaps to discourage the number of people like us who flew in to apply for the dtv there? Might be a surge in applications this month and they’re working to cool things down…who knows…

Seems like a random question. HCMC asked me to provide a paid and none refundable booking. This seems at odds with digital media nomad working. I got a long stay multi entry visa in the end, but not the DTV that I applied for.

where did you apply for the DTV visa? I had read this scenario recently about the Washington DC Thai Consulate offering to issue the METV multiple entry tourist visa instead of the DTV visa as the purpose for the DTV course of study could be done with the METV visa.

happy I can stay longer than before and without prejudice from Immigration as I depart and return. DTV seems to upset many Immigration officials, so glad to sidestep that.

The DTV is better than a multiple entry tourist visa. I don't think anyone is really upset by a DTV. They're more likely to scrutinize certain people for having been on visa exempt or tourist visa entries.

Anonymous participant if its a family friend i dont see the hard problem getting a document. And immigration is never going to contact the person. As long as the document has all the right info and the adress is real i dont thing they will spend more time on it

Applying in Thailand’s neighboring countries is a clear indicator that the person, allready was staying in Thailand before applying, and because of that, has had the possibility to secure a rental before applying.
