Went to Hong Kong consulate to apply for multi entry tourist visa (METV). British passport. Was told I need to have a letter from my employer detailing EXACTLY why I needed a multi-entry visa, pay 1500 HKD and then they'd make a decision on it.. First of all, if I had a job still, why would I be applying for a METV so how could I get an employer letter?!
Secondly, they just didn't seem up for it at all so I ended up requesting a single entry. (Did the same process 3 years ago, submitted a letter from my own company in the UK and was not asked a thing) Things have certainly changed..
UPDATE Should have made this clearer: I applied for an METV here as I am a resident here as had a job. Not a permanent resident, I may add. I believe one cannot obtain a METV outside one's home country or place of residence. I was asked for an employer letter from my Hong Kong employer.
