What are the recent experiences and tips for obtaining a DTV Visa in Thailand?

This group has been very helpful so I'm giving back my application details:

DTV approved today ( soft power - Discover Thai Nature ) via Los Angeles embassy. USA citizen, Applied on Feb 2, approved Feb 14 ( 10 days ).

I was not asked for any additional documents.

My physical and mailing address are in different states, so my bank statements show a different address than the address I confirmed with my utility bill. I thought it might be an issue, but it was not.

I'm retired and do not work ( mid 40s, so I thought this might raise flags). I selected 'retired' in the application. My bank checking statements do show a stable 'income' every month from investments.

I submitted 6 months of bank statements, the last statement showed more than the required 500,000THB and the 5 before showed close to it. I highlighted the totals at the end of the month in the PDF, and joined them into one PDF. I wanted to make this as simple as possible for the person reviewing it.

In addition, even though I know it's not required I also submitted my investment summary page ( I attached it to the joined PDF of my bank statements on the last page ). On the summary page I highlighted the amount invested that showed I could live a long time on the funds. Again, I didn't think I'd get denied by having this extra statement, and thought it could possibly help. Weather or not it did, i'll never know.

I wear glasses that do not obstruct my face and kept them on the photo that I submitted in the application.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen shares their successful experience applying for a DTV Visa through the Los Angeles embassy, detailing the timeline from application to approval (10 days). They describe their preparation, including bank statements and a supplemental investment summary to demonstrate financial stability. The applicant notes that despite having different addresses on their bank statements and utility bills, it did not affect their application outcome. Don't try applying using DiscoverThainature at London's Embassy, from what I've heard it will not be accepted. That came from one of the Thai businesses that runs these seminars.

Interesting about the bank statement being a different address than your Utility(residential?) address. I have a similar situation. Did you explain anything about it on your covering letter? Thanks for posting too ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜„

I was also prepared to send them the lease that shows where my utility bills came from ( my residential address. ) My other address is a virtual mailbox so I can manage mail remotely. This virtual mailbox is the address that was on my bank statements.

I did not include a cover letter in my documents. I didn't mention anything about the different addresses. I was prepared though to show in my banking accounts where both my physical and mailing addresses were noted as proof should they have asked clarifying questions around two different addresses.

Congratulations ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Thank you for your helpful report.

Be sure to PRINT OUT copies of the email you received with the DTV Visa. Show it IF ASKED at airline check-in and with the Thai Immigration Officers upon arrival into Thailand.

Carry copies of the documents submitted with your DTV Visa Application. (If ever asked by Thai Immigration Officers to see them.)

Double check your STAMP in your passport received on arrival into Thailand from the Thai Immigration Officer, to make sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

Enjoy your course of study for the DTV Visa covering 5 years of monthly presentations.

This is the first time I've heard of printing out the email. Of course I'll print out the PDF Visa itself, and keep the course enrollment documentation as well. Has there been instances where officers have asked for the email specifically? And not the passport?
James ********
Anonymous participant print out the Evisa email...it has the DTV Visa in it. SHOW the DTV Visa to airline if ASKED... and to the Thai Immigration Officers upon arrival.

Members note that this course of study is not being accepted by all Thai Embassies and Consulates. Yet, we are seeing acceptance in several. ASK the sponsor which Thai Embassy or Consulate is known for accepting this course of study for the DTV Visa. BTW... Phnom Penh Cambodia Thai Embassy was accepting it, but no longer does.

@James *******
does anyone know if Hanoi is accepting?

A word of caution, things are fluid so even the information provided by the course provider can quickly become outdated.

@James *******
Right. I've heard about HCMC, Cambodia, London, Spain refusing it so far.

Wow, also just got my DTV approved today but I applied on January 25th, same location Los Angeles...I was getting nervous that it was not going to be approved. Congrats!
