Hello, Everyone's quick question I've been doing research for quite a while preparing and making arrangements for a DTV for Thailand. I'm looking to leave the U.S.

I am trans and want to take the best and most effective routes if anyone has resources or best jobs if any I could take

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the most effective routes for securing a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand, particularly from the perspective of being a trans individual seeking work opportunities. Responses emphasize the necessity of a Thai work permit to work in Thailand, the importance of having sufficient funds (500,000 THB), and suggest considering remote jobs or educational roles, such as teaching English. Community members recommend researching visa regulations related to remote work restrictions and exploring soft power options involving medical or cultural activities.

You don't say anything about your age or work experience, but you might consider teaching here. Google "ESL in Thailand" and see what comes up. If there are recruiters like Teach Away looking, I'd go with them. (Reputable recruiters never charge you a fee, they make money from schools/governments.). Just an idea...

You cannot work in Thailand... without a Thai work permit.

You cannot get the DTV Workcation Visa and work unless all of your clients are outside of Thailand.

this is simply false. You can work in Thailand, just not for a Thai company.

The best approach is probably a "digital nomad" visa for which you need either a current contract or employment agreement; or a portfolio of work if you're a freelancer, showing regular income.

Good luck! Thailand is what if call "conservative but very tolerant" when it comes to trans people.

you cannot compete with Thai labor. You can't make a website for a Thai cafe, even if you have your own non Thai company.

Set yourself up with a remote job from the US that can be done In Thailand or can apply via the Soft Power option via medical treatment or cultural activity such as cooking, Muay Thai. Essential to have 500K THB for either option.

You can't work on this visa for any Thai business. I think you'd better do more research by reading the posts in this group to understand the remote/freelance/workcation requirements and restrictions if you need to earn a living while here.

Do you have at least the equivalent of bt500,000 in your bank account in your name? What qualifications do you have for a remote job, as simply being trans is not a qualification. You might do better under the soft power option.
