TLDR : Answer Summary
This post discusses recommendations for health and accident insurance for foreigners in Bangkok. Participants share experiences and suggest contacting insurance agents for the best coverage options. Notable mentions include Tenzing Pacific Services and AIA for their reputable services. One user emphasizes the importance of thoroughly understanding insurance policies, especially regarding pre-existing conditions, and recommends direct quotes from insurers rather than through agents. The conversation highlights key considerations when selecting an insurance provider, including coverage expectations, reading the fine print, and customer service reliability.
I’ve researched this extensively and there are some important points to consider before buying.
1. Disclose everything! Insurers here hate to pay out even more that those in western countries.
2. Their understanding and attitude towards certain pre-existing conditions is basic. They excessively load for conditions that don’t warrant it, like mild asthma.
3. At the quoting stage, you will be given a basic cover premium and when you disclose pre-existing conditions, the premium obviously increases. DON’T assume you are now covered for those pre-existing conditions because of the higher premium, you WILL NOT be.
4. Ask about increase caps on your renewal premium or even better a policy that doesn’t increase if zero claims are made.
5. Read any policy you receive VERY CAREFULLY before you agree to take out the policy.
6. Go direct to the insurer for a quote, I’ve received the same cover from agents with inflated prices. Yes they have to make their cut but an extra

7. Be aware of some companies that offer very low starting premiums and claim to have offices in Europe. DO YOUR RESEARCH. If it’s too good to be true, it definitely is.
8. DON’T listen to any FB recommendations unless that person has made a claim from their insurers, received good customer service AND been paid out. YOU NEVER KNOW HOW GOOD AN INSURER IS, UNTIL ITS TIME TO CLAIM.
9. Read their reviews!
10. Look into whether you can get cover internationally from a provider in your own country. It will be more expensive but most likely, less headaches.
I welcome anyone to provide proven stories of having great service and being paid out promptly without any problems from their insurer. AGENTS NEED NOT ANSWER.

I have health and accident with AIA and supposed to be the best in Thailand because it’s a Thai company and you can use the Thai private hospitals
I have an health+life insurance gold (in and outpatient) with your Co. for 2 years now. I assume accidental treatment is included already, right? i was never told by the agent that I need additional extra accident insurance
if you have health insurance with KT-AXA, iHealthy or iHealthy Ultra every plans will cover medical expenses from accident, general illness and critical illness.
