I would like to apply for the DTV soft power...

I am a Canadian citizen

I am thinking of applying in Malaysia.

I would apply for dental treatments(implants)

Is this feasible?

When obtaining the visa, how long is it valid?

Thank you for any information

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian citizen is considering applying for a DTV visa in Malaysia primarily for dental treatments, specifically implants. The DTV visa is valid for five years, allowing re-entries with a 180-day stamp per entry. However, the feasibility of the visa application depends on providing a valid treatment plan from a recognized dentist requiring long-term stays in Thailand. It's noted that applying for the visa from Malaysia may not be ideal, with reports of poor experiences at the KL embassy, and Vietnam being suggested as a better alternative for applications.

I've not really heard many success stories about applying in Malaysia. In fact I've heard very bad experiences applying through KL embassy. There are 2 other embassies in Malaysia but I'm not sure about the experience there. Vietnam is a popular choice at the moment.

I don't know the specifics, I just know I've seen multiple posts talking about Vietnam. You might want to check the DTV Facebook group.

Whether or not implants allows you to apply probably depends on showing a valid treatment plan signed off by a recognised dentist that requires you to spend long periods of time in Thailand. And I don't mean 1 implant now and a 2nd implant 6 months later

usually a few appointments close together though. You need to be able to show something like a genuine 6 month plan

A DTV is valid for 5 years giving you a 180 day stamp each entry.
