TLDR : Answer Summary
After spending 180 days in Thailand, you can often re-enter immediately or with minimal time out, though experiences can vary. Some expats suggest that an exit for even a day can reset the 180-day period. Others indicate that it might be wise to stay out for one or two nights, especially when crossing certain land borders. While visa rules can be inconsistent, and there are no strict waiting requirements, it is crucial to be cautious about how long you stay in Thailand each year to avoid tax implications.
So let me get this straight, you can stay in Thailand for 180 days and then leave for a week and then come back for 170 days in the same calendar year?
No overnight stay is needed on this agency border run. This route has been in operation for many years, I first did it in 2003. You will be stamped back in again no questions asked.
Hundreds have. Soon, thousands. You can stay permanently, other than perhaps a day or two per year. But - careful of potential local tax regulations, if you're in the country more than you're not. Usual thing.
The problem is the timer to be a tax resident doesn't restart as I learned recently from these forums. That means anyone staying for over 6 months in a calendar year will pay tax. It actually sucks
enter the country with a valid multi-entry visa should not have limits.
Visa exemption also has no limits, but visa exemption is only for normal touristic use, when IO think you do not behave like a tourist, but like somebody who does not want the correct visa for his purpose of visit, he might refuse entry.
Should be yes agreed but there's plenty of things that should and shouldn't be when it comes to visas and Thai immigration ..but that unfortunately doesnt guarantee anything .

Use a visa run agent = immediately come back, otherwise depends on which border.
I don't understand why an agent should be necessary, when I go for shopping outside the country and get back the same day is a valid multi entry visa not enough?
