Do I need to stand in line for a visa extension after returning to Thailand, or is my 60-day visa reset?

Before my 60day visa exemption expired I left the country for about 5 days. After returning to Thailand ,I see that expiration is tomorrow.

Do I now have to stand in line to get an extension, or can I just resume my casual vacation because the clock has been reset to the time I returned to Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the status of their 60-day visa exemption after leaving Thailand for 5 days and returning just before the expiration date. Comments indicate that the user should have received a new 60-day stamp upon reentry, meaning they do not need to stand in line for an extension but should confirm the new expiration date in their passport.

60 day is from the date you entered the country!

You have new stamp in your passport with the expiry date

There are no stamps in passports anywhere. I have just returned from a 2 month visit and can assure you that both my wife and myself have no stamps in our passports.

@Tim ******
I can assure you there are. At every land border entry in the nation. And the vast majority of international airports. And your little two month visit, had an entry and exit. Likely from BKK. Which has automated wickets.

I am not sure what you mean by my little visit, I can only assume it is some sort of slur from a tiny minded ex pat 😯🤣🙏. I can assure you that there are no visible stamps on both mine and my wife's passports; smart arse 😯🤣🙏

who cares? You are offering nothing useful here. I’m happy you made it home to your backward little island safely.

oh contrare, I am offering something VERY USEFUL, I am informing travellers entering Thailand, that they will NOT receive a stamp in their passport!

For the record, I don't live on a backward little island you dimwit. I lived and worked in Thailand for 21 years, after which I simply tour the world making my fortune; unlike saddos like you , who think that they are the bee's knees because they manage to survive in an area that you provide very little input; other than the bar girls 🤣🤣🤣

that is because you are an idiot Tim. And clearly have no clue about entry into Thailand other than BKK. And they most certainly will receive a stamp you absolute jack off. Never crossed a land border in your 21 years? And it’s ‘contraire’… you are simply informing travellers you are an absolute dunts.

I have been travelling full time for 11 years since full retirement at 47. I have residency and homes in 3 nations not including my own. Enjoy your shitty little cold island. And save some pennies for your next flight

when you left and came back in, you were given a stamp with that day. That day is day 1 of 60

You should have received a new 60 day stamp when you returned. Examine your passport more thoroughly.

I see an entry stamp from Malaysia, but nothing for return that I can see.

@D*
Your Thailand exit stamp is right there. But Thai immigration officers do not go in order for using your passport. You need to look at each page of your passport from the beginning.

I'm probably wrong but I thought the automatic gates are now functioning and no stamp is put in the passport.

@Euan *******
it is

Very important to

Confirm that your

Passport actually gets stamped anytime when clearing immigration in any city iit often is forgotten by the tired, bored or distracted human behind the glass!

It’s your problem if you dont notice

The one time that you need to be paying attention

There are no automated entry gates and there won't be for a long time. Likely not this year.

The automated gates are exit only.
