I am only transiting Bangkok on my return from Ireland to Australia. Travel will be on 20 April, in transit for only 4 hours. Is it necessary to have the covid travel insurance or is this only if you are entering Thailand.  Do I have to do a Thailand Pass? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

yes you will need thai pass and everything to get the pass. Insurance, test and go hotel. No transit visa required and your not transit as your entering through immigration. Transit means your staying international side and not actually entering the country but in your case you will be

thanks both for your help, looks like i am going to have to rebook my flight from PP to BKK for a day before, book a test and go hotel only to go straight back to the airport the next day 🤦‍♀️ although my flight isnt until mid may, so i am going to hold out changing anything just in case Thailand scrap the test and go (very unlikely but i can hope)

You need to book a connecting flight so you can stay airside and not go through immigration. It may cost a little more but you can avoid all the Thai Pass crap.

Michael Dawson oh 🤦‍♀️ i have bookwd my flight now which is none-refundable..so i guess my only option is to book a test and go hotel in order to get a thai pass.. Not use it and go straight onto my next flight?

. As soon as you pass immigration and pick up your bags you'll be escorted to your SHA+ hotel, tested, wait for results and then you'll be free to continue your journey. I would suggest you book a hotel near the airport

you have no choice. You must use the hotel. They take you to hotel and make you do pcr test you can not leave hotel until get negative results

You don't need Thailand Pass if you are staying "airside" and not going through immigration.

correct but I expect them to remove the wording about the PCR test and they may change transit insurance rules for April also. We just don't know yet because the new law isn't published.

as of right now, Covid insurance is still required if you're transiting and don't have to go through immigration. Check the Thailand Pass website after a week of April had passed to see if they updated the FAQ about transit. Then you can see if they changed the rules for April.
