My wife (Thai national) and I arrived a few days ago. I just got the 30 day visa on arrival.
If I wanted to stay on another month have I got an option to do so? I was reading on some forum that the 30 day visa on arrival can only be extented for a further 7 days theses days is this true?
Thanks π

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, an expat with a Thai wife, seeks information on extending their 30-day visa on arrival. They received clarification from the community that the extension is indeed possible and varies based on the passport held. Specifically, the user holds an Irish passport, allowing for a 30-day extension. Additionally, there's mention of different rules based on country of origin, with some allowing only a 7-day extension. The conversation clarifies the differences between visa on arrival and visa-exempt entry.
sorry need your advice! how about Russian passport? I'm asking for my friend who's flying soon. How many days can she extend her 30days tourist stay? Actually she only needs few days more to be extended.

Sorry for reply late. Irish can extension 1 time 30 days.
may I suggest sticking to the 30 day extension first because if you want to extend again, you can the get the family 60 after the 30 but not the other way around. I'm sure
Since all extensions cost the same, may as well go for the 60 day βvisit familyβ one as Lloyd suggested in case you decide to stay a little longer.
You are confusing the terminology that that's what running you off the rails π
IF you showed up and were stamped in FREE for 30 days without having bought a visa from a thai consulate before hand you entered as Lloyd said on a 30 day visa exempt entry AND you can extend that as he said you could.
What you're confusing your entry with is the fact that people from 18 countries BUY a Visa On Arrival for 2000baht when they show up here and get stamped in for 15 days. <- They can't get the 30 day extension only the 7 day one π

That can be extended for 30 days normally, but as you have a Thai wife, you could get a 60 day "visit family" extension.

Guessing you actually came on a visa exempt entry
